Tom Shepherd: A Michelin-starred chef with an exceptional career

Tom Shepherd is a talented British chef with a distinguished track record in the world of gastronomy. Originally from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, he gained a solid local education before distinguishing himself in prestigious kitchens. His roles include Development Chef at the 2 Michelin Star restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham, and Sous Chef to Michael Wignall at the 2 Michelin Star restaurant Latymer in Surrey. His experience continued as Head Chef at Adam's, a 1 Michelin Star restaurant in Birmingham, before founding his own establishment, Upstairs by Tom Shepherd, in Lichfield in 2021. Less than four months after opening, he was awarded his first Michelin star, making Staffordshire gastronomic history.

In 2023, Tom was a featured chef on BBC’s Great British Menu, where he won the main course round with a reimagined version of the famous ‘Cow Pie’ inspired by the comic strip character Desperate Dan. With a passion for fine cuisine and innovation, Tom is also noted for his philanthropic commitment, including as a board member of the charity Kids’ Village.
